Mohammad Hafeez identifies two young guns in domestic cricket as 'future stars'
The local talent in Pakistan is abundant which has been evident from their selection policy for the Australia T20 series.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have recently revamped their domestic cricket scene by bringing in some drastic steps to raise the level of the competition and better the quality of participants in it. One of the biggest steps they took was removing all the departmental teams, thereby reducing the bloatware and slimming down the number of participants.
Currently, they are seeing the National T20 Cup in progress with many of the new faces getting chances to ply their trade along with international stalwarts. Mohammad Hafeez is one such veteran who is helping out in the domestic scene and keeping an eye out for young and fresher talents. Hafeez, who has continued to go stronger and stronger with age, recently took to Twitter to point out two young stars for the future.
Mohammad Hafeez says Rohail Nazir and Ali Imran are stars for future
Mohammad Hafeez is currently plying his trade for Southern Punjab (Pakistan) team in the ongoing National T20 Cup. But the 39-year-old is also looking out for stars for the future, which the team needs badly, given that he and many others may have to say goodbye in the coming year or so. The local talent in Pakistan is abundant which has been evident from their selection policy for the Australia T20 series.
Hafeez took to Twitter and pointed out two young players who can be earmarked as future stars for the Pakistani team. Hafeez tweeted, “Saw an impressive Technical & Good shot range batsmen Ali Imran in #NationalT20Cup2019. Surely He can become Future Star for Pakistan, Also Rohail Nazir is another Better Young player in this Tournament, i wish them all the best to make it.”
Rohail Nazir, aged 18 years and Ali Imran, aged 21 years both hail from Islamabad and have very good records in domestic cricket. Nazir has 454 runs in 8 FC matches with the highest score of 130, while also has a century in 6 List-A games. On the other hand, Ali Imran has a better record in limited-overs with 685 runs in 23 List A matches and two centuries to boast of.
However, with both of them getting some encouragement from the former Pakistan captain is a big thing. It remains to be seen whether the PCB listens to Hafeez and gives the two budding youngsters chances in the national team.
