Team India ended their recent tour of South Africa on a high with a 2-1 T20I series win over the hosts. Prior to this win, they had beaten the Proteas 5-1 in the ODIs. The chief architects of the Indian win in the ODIs were the wrist spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. The new spin duo have been drawing praises from all corners. Now, veteran Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has showered praises on them.
Mohammad Hafeez, who is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League 2018, remarked that the Indian wrist spinners have done really well. As per the quotes in Hindustan Times, Hafeez added that the young Pakistani leggie Shadab Khan also has a lot to learn in the trade. He mentioned that the leg spinners have always been exciting prospects in the world cricket.
“Chahal, Kuldeep have done really well. Shadab Khan is fabulous but still has a lot to learn. I think every team should have a leg-spinner because it gives you an X-Factor,” Mohammad Hafeez quoted.
“They (leg-spinners) are always fascinating. Starting from Abdul Qadir; he used to bowl his googlies. It was a new thing in cricket and everybody loved that. Then it was Anil Kumble from India, Shane Warne from Australia and Mushtaq Ahmed from Pakistan performed splendidly,” he added further.
On the PSL 2018
Commenting on the way PSL has evolved in the last couple of years, Mohammad Hafeez remarked that the tournament has certainly become a big brand now. He cited that the fans are following the tournament closely and there is global recognition for the tournament as well. He is confident that the ongoing edition of the tournament will also be a big hit.
“There is no doubt that it (PSL) has become a brand now. People across the world love to watch the PSL. It has produced a lot of competitive cricket and I’m sure this year will be no less,” mentioned the veteran cricketer.
