Virat Kohli is a superstar in India. He is the best batsman on the planet right now and no one is denying it. He has outclassed many bowlers over the years and there are only a few who have made Kohli’s life difficult on the pitch. The Indian skipper was recently seen talking to Gaurav Kapoor on the show Breakfast with champions. He talked about the some of the toughest bowlers he had faced.
It was a very candid interview as he shared some funny incidents. Kohli is a gentleman on and off the ground but he is also a Delhi boy. And when one Delhi boy interviews another, it is surely going to result in some banter. Virat shared an incident where he praised Mohammad Irfan and said that he was one of the toughest bowlers he had faced.
Virat said that he and Yuvraj Singh were batting during the T20 World Cup and he tried to pull a short one from Irfan but missed by a mile. Yuvraj went over from the other end and asked him to try the cut instead. However, the result was the same and Yuvraj just sarcastically told Virat to give him the strike. What made Virat miss those shots was the extra bounce Irfan extracted from the surface because of his 7.1 ft tall stature.
The Twitter exchange
Virat shared that incident in the interview. Irfan must have watched it and was extremely happy. The Pakistan fast bowler then tweeted about the same and thanked the Indian superstar for words of praise. Virat also replied to the message and it was a conversation the fans fell in love with.
The tweet read, “What a gentleman @imVkohli is! Great player with a great heart. Prayers for you my friend. Hope that we play more often in grounds. #Respect.” To which Kohli replied with a simple thank you. Here is the actual conversation from Twitter.
