In a major jolt to the struggling Pakistan ODI team pacer, Mohammad Irfan has been ruled out of the remainder of the series against England with an injury. The tallest cricketer was a part of the XI in the 4th ODI at Leeds but could bowl only 5 overs of his quota before walking off the field which was later reported to be cramps.
While Irfan wasn’t considered for the first 3 matches when he was eventually drafted in as a replacement for Wahab Riaz who returned with second most expensive bowling figures in ODI cricket from the game in which England created a world record by scoring 444 runs. He impressed in the first spell that he bowled and not just dismissed English opener Jason Roy but also the man who had caused the maximum damage in the previous game, Alex Hales.
In a situation where all the other bowlers were being hit away for runs and didn’t look threatening and sharp enough to get him a wicket, Azhar Ali had to call Irfan back for the second spell at the last part of the inning in the 42nd over but he bowled just one ball which landed well outside the pitch. He walked off the field once again and couldn’t take part in the game any further.
Though, there is no confirmation on the nature and seriousness of the injury what is known is that he won’t be available for the last ODI as well as the T20I series and thus Hasan Ali has been named his replacement in the T20 squad.
