Mohammad Nabi inks a deal with Leicestershire for T20 Blast
"I have heard a lot of good things about the Foxes," he said after signing the deal.
Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will play for Leicestershire in the upcoming edition of the T20 Blast this year. He is currently plying his trade in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers for Afghanistan where his team will try to make it to the marquee event next year in England. If they manage to qualify, it will be the second time they will be participating in the World Cup. However, Nabi is looking forward to his stint with Leicestershire Foxes this season and is a very useful all-rounder in the shortest format of the game.
Nabi will also play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Sunrisers Hyderabad which is all set to commence on April 7. His teammate Rashid Khan will also play for the same franchise and both had taken the tournament by storm during their maiden stint with SRH. Foxes, on the other hand, must be delighted after signing one of the hottest players going around in the T20 circuit and he will make a huge difference to their fortunes this year.
Nabi looking forward
Mohammad Nabi was happy after signing the deal with Leicestershire Foxes and was looking forward to work with their coach Paul Nixon. “I have heard a lot of good things about the Foxes. I am looking forward to working with Paul Nixon and joining a professional and ambitious county with a good track record in T20,” he was quoted as saying by The Cricketer.
Even the head coach Nixon and claimed that he is known to all the qualities of Nabi which will make a huge difference to them in the middle-order. “I know all about Mohammad Nabi’s qualities in the game. He can make a huge impact in our middle order and is an off-break bowler who operates with great control and skill. Nabi has a brilliant white ball record for Afghanistan and in T20 competitions around the world. He is exactly the type of player that we were looking for and is somebody who will fit in beautifully here,” he said.
