In the 6th match of the BPL 3, the Barisal Bulls won the toss and decided to bat first on a pitch that didn’t encourage much bounce. The Bulls could only manage 108 in 19.3 overs as the Sylhet Superstars bowled beautifully to restrict them. But the highlight of the game came in the 20th over when Mohammed Shahid cleaned up Al-Amin Hossain.
He bowled full and straight on middle, Hossain looked to give it an almighty thwack but the bat was nowhere near it and the ball finds timber. After the dramatic end though, Al-Amin exchanged some heated words with Shahid as both of them barge into each other. Mushfiqur had to come in between the two, few words exchanged again. Umpires intervened and calmed the situation own and took control.
An upbeat and angry Al-Amin Hossain let the ball do the talking in the second innings, as he castled skipper Mushfiqur Rahim’s stumps to earn an emphatic hat-trick. This is not the only controversy that has hit this year’s BPL. The tournament’s technical committee chairman Jalal Yunus has said they have referred Tamim Iqbal’s allegations of abuse during the match between Sylhet Superstars and Chittagong Vikings to the BCB’s disciplinary committee, with the process set to begin this week.
Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB), the players’ body, has condemned the alleged abuse of Tamim, who was seen exchanging heated words with Sylhet Superstars owner Azizul Islam after the start of the match was delayed because two of Sylhet’s players – Josh Cobb and Ravi Bopara – did not have NOCs.
