Trolling Indian players of the Muslim community on social media platform has become a common phenomenon and has been trending off-late. Be it Irfan Pathan or Mohammad Kaif, the trollers target these Indian players for trivial issues citing non-Islamic behaviour. Indian Pacer Mohammad Shami faced the brunt of it yet again after posting a recent picture of him with the Indian team visiting the Ashok Vatika.

Ashok Vatika is a sacred place according to Hindu Mythology Ramayana. According to the epic, this was the same place where King of Lanka Ravana captivated Queen Sita after abducting her. The Indian cricket team recently visited the Sita Eliya, which is a popular village in Sri Lanka’s central province. The garden in that province is known as Ashok Vatika.

“India team arrived Ashok Vatika is the place where Ravana kept the Sita captive. Ashok Vatika is a garden in the Sita Eliya in SriLanka,” captioned Mohammad Shami along with the picture of him with the rest of members of the Indian cricket team and their better halves. KL Rahul, Wriddhiman Saha, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and various members of the support staff can be seen accompanying him.

Here’s the Tweet

Twitter showed no mercy on the fast bowler as toxic comments started to pour in for Shami after posting these picture close to Hindu mythology. One of them named Ankur Mishra posted,”U sud call Maa Seeta instead of seeta. Pls mind it, anyway u r true Indian no need to prove it.” Another reply read “Shami bhai phir se fatwa aane wala hai.”

It might not be a matter of great surprise for the fast bowler from Delhi Darevils as earlier Shami posted a picture with his wife Hasin Jahan on the occasion of the second birthday of his daughter. The Muslim audience termed the picture as Un-Islamic as Jahan was not seen wearing a Hijab. Many claimed it to be a sin.

This is not the first time Shami has been trolled for his social media post. He has earlier invited ire of some trolls when he posted a picture of his wife during their daughter’s second birthday celebrations. The cricketer was trolled as many felt that his wife Hasin Jahan committed a “sin” by not wearing a hijab during the birthday celebrations.
