Following the encounter between the Multan Sultans and the Peshawar Zalmi, Shoaib Maqsood became the talk of the town following an impressive display of batsmanship in the Pakistan Super League. He smashed the ball to all parts and brought up his half-century in double quick time, something that ensured that the Sultans continued their victory streak.
While Maqsood’s impressive knock caught the attention of one and all, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf, in particular, seemed to be most pleased with the youngster. Known for his flamboyance in his batting and boasting of immaculate technique, Mohammad Yousuf was perhaps one of the key figures in Pakistan‘s batting lineup and has boasted of several important knocks in both Tests and ODIs.
Speaking about the manner in which Maqsood batted, Yousuf went on to state that the youngster had indeed shown the world that he can be among those who contest for Pakistan selection for overseas series in the future. “Multan Sultans batted really well, especially Maqsood played an amazing inning of 85 runs, hitting massive sixes as well. Maqsood showed the world he can play quickly and hit massively, for which he is famous for,” said Yousuf.
Not too impressed with Shehzad
While Yousuf did indeed have good things to say about the way Shoaib Maqsood batted, the former Pakistan skipper went ahead and stated that Ahmed Shehzad’s batting on the day was a bit too slow, especially given the fact that the wicket was conducive to batting. “According to me, Shehzad batted a bit slowly on a flat track, which was ideal for batting,” said Yousuf.
Ahmed Shehzad had not been a part of the Pakistan batting setup for quite some time now, with several players questioning the opener’s attitude towards the team and several players as well.
