As the T10 league commences, there has been a lot of excitement prepping up in the team camps. Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir is one amongst them. He seems excited at the prospect of spending some time with all-time great Wasim Akram in the Maratha Arabians camp.
Wasim had earlier stated that Amir will create a sensational impact in the 12 balls he gets to bowl every match in this format of the sport. He reckoned that the left-arm pacer’s spells would be crucial in determining their team’s success in the tournament.
Lots of passion and money is involved
While the T10 is being seen more of a new and unknown format, Amir isn’t taking it lightly. He mentioned that with too much at stake, there is some kind of pressure for him.
“Lots of people are involved in this, Lots of people’s money is involved in this. Lots of people’s passion is involved in this. There is media pressure. There is crowd pressure,” he was quoted as saying by Brecoder.
While he did say that the T10 format was going to be fun, it was necessary to step up and perform. The Pakistani cricket further stated that since the franchisees had paid them, it was their responsibility to take the level of performance a notch higher and deliver.
Wasim Akram has been my idol
Amir was thrilled to work with mentor Wasim Akram. He remarked that while the tournament was for a short duration, he was willing to grab the opportunity and learn from the legend.
“I am excited to spend time with him, It’s for four days, so I want to learn as much as I can from him. He has been my idol. I have looked up to him. I am hoping to learn from him during practice,” an excited Amir added.
He further described 2017 as a great year for him. Recalling Pakistan’s first ever Champions Trophy win and his stint with the English county Essex, he was glad to have stepped up and performed well. The pacer who also embraced fatherhood this year described it as a blessing.
