Mohammed Shami allowed to join DD squad by Kolkata Police

Mohammed Shami attended the interrogation from Kolkata Police regarding the domestic violence filed by his wife Hasin Jahan on him. It lasted for almost three hours after which they have allowed the cricketer to join the Delhi Daredevils squad which is currently in Bengaluru for their next match on April 21. Shami has been facing a lot of problems in his personal life ever since his wife has come out with some shocking allegations against him. However, Police believe that the cricketer is completely supporting in the investigation.

Shami is featuring in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and recently played the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens a couple of days ago. He stayed back in the city of joy not for the most joyous reason though as Police summoned an investigation at 2 PM on Wednesday.

We have got no objection

Joint Commissioner of Police, Praveen Tripathi informed the reporters that they had no reason to stop Mohammed Shami from playing n the IPL. But he also stressed the fact that they will also call him back whenever they will feel. “We have got no objection in Shami joining his IPL side. But if need be, we will call him again. We can call him anytime but at this point of time, we don’t find it is necessary. He’s fully cooperating in this case,’ he told reporters after the three-hour interrogation was completed.

Tripathi also cleared that the investigations will continue as Shami did not talk to media after the interrogation was done. It is also being learnt that the cricketer will leave for Bengaluru on Wednesday night. “Satisfaction is not the answer. We examined him professionally, got our answers and after that the investigation will take its course. I’ve no idea about the police escort. It’s not in my knowledge. Please clarify this with the headquarters, safety and security of Indian players is a different issue,” the police commissioner added.
