Mohammed Shami confident India can pull off an encore in the ODIs as well
The 27-year-old pacer claimed a whopping 10 wickets to become leading pacer in India's first-ever clean sweep away from home.
Indian pace spearhead, Mohammed Shami was ecstatic after his side’s historic 3-0 clean sweep over Sri Lanka and said India would look to continue the momentum in the ODI series starting Sunday. Lauding the team effort, Shami believes the Men in Blue can do an encore of their performance in the limited-over series as well. The 27-year-old pacer claimed a whopping 10 wickets to become leading pacer in India’s first-ever clean sweep away from home, in a series of three or more Tests.
When the Indian team embarked on their tour to Sri Lanka a few weeks ago, no one would have expected such impeccable results given the troubled scenario involving the appointment of a new coach. And skipper Virat Kohli would have hoped for a comfortable series win. However, the Indian team has proved every critic wrong with their comprehensive victory- a whitewash, not just of the series as a whole, but of each and every Sri Lankan player’s confidence.
Shami credits team effort
Speaking about the upcoming ODI series, Shami said, “It’s very good to win such a rare series. We will look to continue the momentum and perform well. It’s a team effort and we work in a unit. We are like a family and enjoy each other’s success,
When asked about their newly appointed gaffer Ravi Shastri, the pacer opined, “I’ve already said the support staff and the team unit is one of the best. There’s a good understanding among us. We know each other’s strengths.”
With the win in the recently concluded three match Test series, Team India has established their dominion. The limited-overs series, which includes 5 ODIs is scheduled to start on Sunday, August 20. Following the ODI series, India will feature in a solitary T20I before flying back home for the Australia series.
