Mohammed Shami and his ongoing problems on the home front may be on the road towards a compromise, but that certainly has not prevented him from being one of the folks in India who cheer the team on in their ongoing ODI series against England. Having failed the yo-yo test and not performed as well in the IPL this time around, Shami was relegated to the reserves with Navdeep Saini named in his palce for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
However, in recent times, things are beginning to fall into place for Shami, especially after he successfully passed the yo-yo Test. Having been made avaialable for the Test side in the upcoming five-match Test series in England, Shami has been glued to the telly, watching the Men in Blue make their presence felt in the British Isles.
The first ODI of the series saw the Indians secure a thumping win over the Brits where Kuldeep Yadav and Rohit Sharma turned the heat on the hosts. Kuldeep was simply unplayable on the day as he took six wickets conceding just the 25 runs. In addition to this, Rohit Sharma also ensurd that he did not miss out on a century as he carried his bat right through the innings.
The eight-wicket win is certainly one of great significance for the Indian team since their opponents on the day were perhaps the best team in the world.
Shami, who took to Twitter shortly after the conclusion of the game went ahead and congratulated skipper Kohli, opener Rohit Sharma, and the golden-haired boy Kuldeep on their impressive exploits in Trent Bridge. The Indians will now travel to Lord’s to play England in the 2nd of the three ODI series.
