Mohammed Shami will be an important member of the South Africa tour. He has been fantastic with the ball for the team recently and since his debut, he has won a lot of hearts. The Bengal speedster did well in the Ranji semifinal as well. His form going into the most awaited tour of India will be very crucial for India.
Mohammed Shami has taken 95 wickets in Test cricket until now and he is a bowler who seldom goes wicketless. However, he is going to face a lot of quality bowlers in the continent of Africa and it will be very interesting to see how he fares in those conditions. That said, the Indian pacer looked in a good mood while talking to Xtratime.
On AB de Villiers and other veterans
This upcoming Test series might be the last against India for some of the veterans in the African team. They will like to get better of the world’s best Test team and end their careers on a high. However, Shami wasn’t fazed by any of this as he said that India also has their plans and do not fear anyone.
The Bengali made sure that this topic would be discussed at the upcoming team meeting. “Yes they will definitely try to take the revenge of their loss on our home soil, but we don’t fear them as our plan is ready too. We will discuss this matter during our next team meeting,” Shami said while talking to Xtratime.
On Dale Steyn’s comments
Dale Steyn made some controversial comments recently and that has started a war of words. There are media writing about it and players reacting. However, this Indian fast bowler is hardly impressed by the veteran Proteas speedster. Shami was quite straightforward and said that he doesn’t care what people say or write, he and the team is just focused on giving their cent percent on the field.
“Not only Steyn, anybody can say anything or write anything, but we are only eyeing to give our 100 percent and I just want to clarify that the team doesn’t fear anybody and we are ready for the counterpunch,” said Shami.
He also added that India has played some fearless cricket in the past and that fills fear among the opponents. Shami also added that he is not worried about any comments or news articles, he just cares about his team and him doing well. He said, “We have played fearless cricket in last couple of years time and we will do the same on our upcoming tour too.”
