India fast bowler Mohammed Shami might face the heat once again for the off-field reasons. The pace bowler was all over the news last year when his estranged wife Hasin Jahan had accused him of having extra-marital affairs. Shami had faced huge criticism from all around but had, fortunately, come out clean from the entire episode. However, he has done little to help his reputation by allegedly sending a message to a lady while being on the World Cup duty.

Shami wished the lady who is definitely stranger to him good afternoon in her inbox on Instagram. And the lady who goes by the name Sophia did not take long to realise that the message was from a famous man. She immediately posted a screenshot of the same while also expressing confusion over why would a popular player keep messaging her.

“anyone wanna tell me why some random cricket player with 1.4m followers keep messaging me,” wrote Sophia. The screenshot soon went viral and unsurprisingly Shami has become the butt of all jokes.

Here is the tweet showing Shami’s message to the lady:

With India gearing up to face New Zealand in the all-important semifinal, they would be keen to avoid any kind of distraction. In case, Shami is really involved in this matter, he looks set to get a dressing down from the team management.

Mohammed Shami in stunning form

Mohammed Shami was recently grabbing the news headlines for his sensational bowling performance in the World Cup. After warming the bench initially, he got the chance in the playing eleven after Bhuvneshwar Kumar was injured. And he did not take long to make an impression. In his very first game, he picked up a hat-trick against Afghanistan to help India defend a modest 224. In the following game against the Windies, he picked up four wickets once again.

Against England, he did even better by picking up a five-wicket haul although India lost the game by 31 runs. Shami was then rested for the clash against Sri Lanka. However, he is likely to return to the playing eleven for the New Zealand clash.
