Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has been in scintillating form this season in the tenth season of the Indian Premier League for his franchise, the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The player has played some wonderful knocks for his side which has helped them script important victories in the initial stages of the Indian Premier League.
However, the Australian has expressed his desire to see the Indian cricketers in the Big Bash League and feels that it would be wonderful to see the high profile cricketers like Virat Kohli and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the tournament. He has also urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to release its players for the same.
“It would be nice (if) in the Big Bash we start getting a few Indian players over in a couple of teams. Hopefully, the BCCI will start releasing a couple of Indian players.”
“I’m sure we would like to see Virat Kohli or Bhuvneshwar Kumar for Sydney Sixers (his team). That would be fantastic”
BCCI over the years has not permitted the Indian players to participate in the foreign T20 leagues. They have been unwilling to provide NOCs to players for participating in the tournaments outside India. In 2012, Indian players Dinesh Karthik, Munaf Patel and some others were picked to play in the inaugural Sri Lankan Premier League but were unable to play the tournament in the end.
Earlier this year Indian big hitter Yusuf Pathan was all set to feature in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz tournament after being given the NOC by the Indian board. But later the decision was reversed as many other cricketers were also keen on playing other leagues and has requested the BCCI for the same after Pathan got the allowance.
However, it is difficult for the Indian players to participate in this year’s BBL even if they get the nod as they will be touring South Africa in the month of December when the tournament is played.
