The MoneyBall9 Fantasy guide of the day is for the CPL 2016 Match 2 between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors.
The Trinbago Knight Riders were stunned by the St. Lucia Zouks in last night’s game as Shane Watson and Johnson Charles completely blew away the ‘star heavy’ Knight Riders side.
Darren Bravo helped the Knight Riders post a good enough total of 162 on the board, but Charles and David Miller made a mockery of that total, chasing it with 5 balls to spare and with some ease.
The focus now shifts to Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Both these sides would be looking to get off the mark as quickly as possible especially after the Zouks upsetting the Knight Riders last night.
Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots
Batsmen
Martin Guptill and Faf du Plessis will be my first picks for this category in the MoneyBall9 Fantasy league.
Guptill has been handed the captaincy for the Amazon Warriors and be relishing this opportunity after being overlooked by the Mumbai Indians for most part of the season. There is no one more destructive than him (apart from Chris Gayle) while opening the batting and if he gets going you could expect at least 60-70 points from him.
Du Plessis loves opening the batting as he can take advantage of the field restrictions. And he will enjoy the opening role for SKN. He was on song in the recently concluded tri-series and should feel at home, having stayed in the West Indies for the past month or so.
Lendl Simmons is my third pick. I opt for him over Chris Lynn as Simmons will be opening the batting and Lynn’s role doesn’t seem much clear right now. And as I have always stated, it is always best to go in with openers as they get to face the maximum number of deliveries and thus can make a significant impact.
Wicketkeeper
There is no clear indication as to which wicketkeeper will make the cut for tomorrow’s game but as all keepers are worth Rs 4000, opt for the one that bats higher up the order.
All Rounder
Dwayne Smith did not feature in the World Cup but showed everyone how good a T20 player he is by scoring bucket loads of runs for the Gujarat Lions. He will be batting in the top 4 and is certain to bowl at least two overs. Get him in.
Bowlers
Adam Zampa’s exploits in the IPL and the recently concluded tri-series are enough to warrant him a place in my side. His variations should cause a lot of problems to the opposition batsmen. Get him in!
Tabraiz Shamsi too was brilliant whenever he got to play for RCB and for the South African side. His chinaman could really surprise the opposition batsmen and thus could work in favour of Fantasy Managers who opt for him. Also, the fact that he comes in for just Rs 5000 makes him a very attractive pick.
For the last bowling slot, I opt for the wrong-footed Sohail Tanvir. His unique style of bowling and brilliant Yorkers make him an enviable pick. Again his low price makes him one of the best value for money players for this game.
Flexible Player
In this category opt for Tino Best or Krishmar Santokie, whoever plays. If both play, go for Tino, as his raw pace could prove to be a menace for the batsmen.
Happy team picking!
