MoneyBall9 Fantasy guide: England v Sri Lanka 5th ODI
Sri Lanka have been good in patches with the two Kusal’s at the top contributing in almost every game and Chandimal and Mathews providing the oomph in the middle and latter stages of the game.
The 5th ODI isn’t going to decide the series in any way, but Sri Lanka would want to avoid a 4-0 defeat, something that could give this young and unsettled team a lot of confidence going forward.
England could opt for a few changes and hence I would advise you to wait for the toss and the team sheets before you make your final team selections.
Let’s get to business now!
England vs Sri Lanka 5th ODI
Batsmen
Jason Roy is the first batsman that I get in for this game. His breathtaking innings of 162 in the last match and a century in the game before that is enough to warrant him a place in my side.
Joe Root gave great support to Roy in the previous game and with his technique and application; you can expect him to be amongst the runs in almost all the games. Get him in the Moneyball9 Fantasy.
Kusal Mendis has proved to be a great number 3 for Sri Lanka until now, contributing in almost every game and scoring at a brisk pace, At this stage, it seems that he is a better pick than Kusal Perera and is definitely better than Eoin Morgan and Jonny Bairstow as England’s batting order can be dynamic.

Wicketkeeper
All Rounder
Angelo Mathews is my all rounder for this game. He along with Chandimal has been amazing for Sri Lanka in the middle order and his medium pace can also fetch a few wickets, which helps you get at least 100 points from him every game.
Bowlers
Liam Plunkett has been the pick of the bowlers in this series, using his height and the conditions to perfection. He has troubled the batsmen with his raw pace, bounce and seam off the surface. You just have to get him in!
Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep make up the spine of the Sri Lankan attack. They have been impressive on this tour using the conditions to good effect and troubling the English batsmen on various occasions. With limited bowling options on offer, I feel these two are the best ones that you can opt for.
Flexible Player
David Wiley is my flexible player for this game. His left-arm swing bowling has terrorized all Sri Lankan batsmen and the fact that he comes in for just Rs 4000 makes him a great value pick as you can expect at least 2 wickets from him
Happy team picking!
