Cricket fans worldwide must be occupied with the high-voltage T20 World Cup 2021 being in action. The global competition is being played from October 17 to November 14 with the matches taking place in the UAE and Oman. For the unversed, this is the seventh edition of the global competition. It was initially scheduled to take place in Australia last year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic suspended the competition.
All the focus then shifted to the 2021 edition which was initially slated to be played in India. However, the coronavirus crisis in the nation forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to shift the gala competition to the Gulf nations. Despite all this hassle, however, fans showcased great excitement for the tournament. After all, prominent cricketers of several nations are plying their trade.
T20 cricket has gained massive popularity over the years as the dynamics of matches can change in no time. We have seen momentum shifting within a span of few deliveries. However, complacency is one of the last things players can afford in T20s. Notably, players also require some specific skillsets to make a name in T20s.
While batters need to have several shots in their books, bowlers need variations to thrive. The level of fielding has also enhanced in the T20 era. However, wicketkeeping is one department that doesn’t get a lot of emphasis. Nevertheless, a keeper’s contribution is very crucial with caught behind and stumpings being two of the most common form of dismissals in T20s. Several wicketkeepers have shown their brilliance in T20 World Cups as well.
