The Indian Premier League continues to display the best of T20 cricket in the world, getting the best of batters and bowlers together. While some bowlers have managed to produce economical spells and even maiden overs, others have had poor outings, conceding a major number of runs in a single innings. The tournament, over the years, has seen batters bringing innovative methods to score runs and put additional pressure on bowlers. The nature of the format has seen bowlers feel helpless when up against in-form batters on batting-friendly pitches.
Conceding the most runs in an innings is an unwanted record that no bowler wishes to hold. However, some instances have taken place. Factors such as short boundaries, flat tracks, and the power-hitting abilities of modern-day batters often make it challenging for bowlers to contain runs. In certain matches, a well-set batter often troubles the most skilled bowlers.
T20 cricket, particularly in the IPL, has often been considered a nightmare for bowlers. The fast-paced format, where teams look to maximize every over, leaves little room for error. A slight problem in line or length can result in the ball going over the boundary ropes. While fans enjoy the spectacle of high-scoring games, it is the bowlers who bear the brunt of the relentless attacking mindset of batters.
