Millions of cricket fans around the world tune in to witness the ICC World Cup which is held at an interval of every four years. The competition sees the participation of the best 10 teams in the World at that time. All these ten teams contest against each other for lifting the coveted silver-and-gold trophy after weeks of demanding and stressful games. Though cricket is a team sport but individual performances do matter as these small- small individual performances create a huge impact on the game and also decide the fortune of the team going ahead in the competition.
However, the trophy is not the only prize for the participating teams but ICC also has the award of Golden Bat which is given to the player who scores the most runs throughout the tournament. In the 12 editions of the World Cup which have taken place, Sachin Tendulkar of India is by far the highest run-getter. This record becomes way more commendable considering the magnitude of the matches as playing in World matches and scoring is like scoring against the best in the world. The former Indian batter also holds the record along with Rohit Sharma for the most number of centuries in the history of the tournament.
