A true leader who could take charge when the chips are down and bring the team out of difficult situations is what every team requires.

There have been a number of such captains who have taken their team to great heights when it comes to ODI World Cup. Ricky Ponting and Clive Lloyd rank top among captains with most win percentage. 

Ricky Ponting and Clive Lloyd are two of the most successful captains in the history of the ICC One Day International (ODI) World Cup, having achieved remarkable records and led their respective teams to victory on multiple occasions. Their leadership skills, strategic acumen, and ability to inspire their teammates set them apart as exceptional leaders in the world of cricket.

Ricky Ponting, the former Australian cricket captain, led his team in the ODI World Cup on two occasions, in 2003 and 2007. Ponting's record as a captain in the tournament is truly extraordinary. In the 29 matches he played as captain, his team emerged victorious in 26 of them, giving him an impressive win percentage of 89.65. Under his captaincy, Australia won the ODI World Cup in both 2003 and 2007, showcasing his exceptional leadership abilities. Ponting's tactical prowess, combined with his aggressive batting style and astute decision-making, made him a force to be reckoned with on the field. His ability to lead from the front and guide his team to victory in high-pressure situations solidified his reputation as one of the greatest ODI World Cup captains of all time.

Clive Lloyd, the legendary West Indian cricketer, captained the West Indies team to two consecutive World Cup victories in 1975 and 1979. In the 17 matches he played as captain in the ODI World Cup, Lloyd led his team to victory in 15 of them, resulting in an exceptional win percentage of 88.23.
