4th June was not a long time ago. All eyes were glued to the TV screens as the action was about to begin at Edgbaston, Birmingham. It was the most awaited match for Indian and Pakistani fans as the two countries took on each other. But the Men in Green were nothing in comparison to their counterparts on that day. But that match is history and the Pakistani team has made a comeback.

A brilliant comeback rather, for nobody expected them to play in the finals. That too, by defeating the hosts and potential favourites to lift the silverware, England. Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is surely a happy man now. But the wicketkeeper opened up in the post-match press conference on how the team management boosted the entire team after the humiliating victory which broke not only the hearts but expectations of Pakistani fans as well.

“After the first loss, we are very down, but credit goes to the team management. They boost up really well for us, and credit goes to the players as well. They motivated very well. And after that match, everything — we bowling well, feilding well, and now today also batting clicking as well. So that’s why credit goes to the bowlers and team management,” said the 30-year skipper.

“I think, we just talked about — after the India match, we just motivated the guys. Don’t worry about the India match. This is gone. We have two matches. If it we play good cricket, definitely we will win this tournament. Now we are in the finals,” the Karachi born-player further added.

Sarfraz’s best game in national colours

When asked whether the game against England was his best or not in national colours, Sarfraz said” “I think it was — I think all three games is the best game when I was the captain. I think it was the best game. That’s why, because, you know, we are in the semi-finals. No one recognised us. So I was very happy for my team performance, and all the credit goes to my team management and my players.”
