Indian skipper Virat Kohli always gives his 100 percent on the field and it was on display once again in Ranchi on Saturday. He leads the team from the front on the field and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to fielding, especially in the death overs when batsmen are looking for some quick runs. However, Team India continued their domination in the shortest format of the game as well and beat the Aussies in the first of the three T20Is and lead the series 1-0. The second match will be played on Tuesday (October 10) now in Guwahati which will host its first International game ever.

The incident took place in the 19th over of the Australian innings when Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a yorker length delivery which Daniel Christian hit to long-on. Australia was in dire straits and was looking for runs in the death overs. To retain the strike the runners decided to challenge Kohli’s throw from the boundary. However, he grabbed the ball in a flash and fired a bullet throw at the keeper’s end with a reaction time of 0.92 sec (approx). Dhoni came forward and had his gloves up, but Kohli had done his part with perfection and the ball shattered the stumps. The throw not just stunned the fans but also left the former captain MS Dhoni amused.

Bowlers script victory for India

Earlier, India opted to field in anticipation of rain after winning the toss. Australia started off decently but lost David Warner in the very first over. But Aaron Finch made sure the momentum was not sucked and played some glorious shots in the powerplay. Familiar woes came back to haunt them as soon as the wrist spinners controlled the game. Both, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, bowled beautifully on a surface which was assisting spinners and bamboozled the Aussies.

Rain arrived in the 19th over of the first innings as the visitors were struggling on 118/8. The play only started 3 minutes before the cut-off time courtesy a stupendous effort from the groundsmen. India were set a tricky target of 48 in six overs as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walked out to open. The hosts comfortably chased the total despite losing the former early as Kohli, the chase master took matters into his own hands.
