MS Dhoni’s ancestral family won't be able to watch his biopic

Legendary Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biopic- MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has been trending ever since its release on 30th September. The Sushant Singh Rajpoot starter has raked in over 80 crores in less than 5 days. The movie depicts Dhoni’s journey from an ordinary ticket collector to a world-class wicketkeeper-batsman, and great attention to detail was given to his childhood coach, sister, parents and friends.

However, sadly and ironically, it is highly unlikely that anyone in Mahi’s ancestral village will be able to celebrate MSD for the hero he is. His ancestral village, Lawali, is in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. The nearest cinema hall happens to be 115 km away! Even though Almora, the district headquarters, is just 75 kilometres away from Lawali, there are no cinema halls there either.

The irony hits one even harder when one realises there isn’t a proper playground in this village where approximately 50 families live, adding up to a population of around 500-550.

According to a local resident, a group of 15-20 villagers take a ferry together to go to the nearest hospital! Dhoni’s success in international cricket brought Lawali a lot of attention from the media and his fans. Not only do the local villagers need a lot of motivation to watch their hero get recognition on the big screen, they also need a lot of resources to go that far.

Dhoni’s paternal uncle, Ganpath, who hasn’t been represented by any actor in the movie will have practically no way to record the rise of his nephew. The most the people can do is wait for the landmark movie to be aired on Television, transforming to another long wait of 2-3 months. There is another solution to it; Dhoni can choose to arrange for a special screening for his family and the villagers.
