At 37, MS Dhoni is certainly not getting any younger. In fact, the white beard that he flaunts and sports while on the field of play is a gentle reminder of his age, something that one simply cannot make out by his fitness. He may be as fit as a fiddle, but as far as the overall context of the Indian cricket team is concerned, they have already begun looking for a replacement with the likes of Rishabh Pant.
A few years back, Dhoni was named on the list of Forbes’ highest paid athletes in the world. With the Indian Premier League and other such branding initiatives, the former India skipper has undertaken with several leading brands, it was clear that he would be classified as a Large Taxpayer, someone along the lines of a Mukesh Ambani or perhaps even a Sachin Tendulkar.
Dhoni becomes the highest taxpayer in Jharkhand
However, in the fiscal year of 2017-18, it was reported that Dhoni had paid approximately 12.17 Crores in Income Tax, something that made him the highest taxpayer in the state of Jharkhand. V Mahalingam, the collector and chief commissioner of Income Tax, Jharkhand region said that this was the first time Dhoni had become the highest taxpayer in that particular fiscal year.
“Dhoni had paid Rs 10.93 crore as income tax in 2016-17 but he was not the highest taxpayer in that fiscal,” chief commissioner of Income Tax, Jharkhand region, V Mahalingam, said.
At the moment, Dhoni is en route to India following the ODI and T20I series. The 37-year old was criticised quite heavily due to some terrible performances with the bat. However, the fact that he managed to make amends with the gloves with some lightning quick reflexes simply makes him one of the best in the world.
