MS Dhoni close to break Sachin Tendulkar's ODI record
Cricket is the game of gentleman’s. We have lots of cricket legends. They all have their own records in their specialization. The Indian skipper MS Dhoni has made a different identity in ODI cricket. He is well known as a best finisher and India won several matches by his determined innings. His strike rate of 90 clearly shows that he is a powerful hitter and one of the fastest men when it comes to running between the wickets. He is adept to play helicopter shot. Hitting a towering sixer isn’t difficult for Dhoni. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest finisher in limited over cricket.
Once Ian bishop said, “If 15 runs are needed off the last over, pressure is on the bowler… not on MS Dhoni.” MS Dhoni took his team home in ODIs 9 times by slapping his towering and beautiful sixes.
India’s Captain cool is currently at No. 6 in the list of players with most sixes in ODI history. For India he is at No. 2 behind Sachin Tendulkar. In 463 ODI matches, Sachin slapped 195 sixes and Dhoni smashed 192 in 278 matches. As NZ will play ODIs against India in October, this year, Dhoni will have a chance to break the record of Tendulkar.
In ODIs, Shahid Afridi holds the record of hitting most sixes in his career. He had hit 351 sixes in 369 innings. It will be interesting to see MS Dhoni surpass 200 sixes in the upcoming series.
Team India will play with New Zealand in India starting from 16th October at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharmasala.
