Indian limited overs skipper MS Dhoni is known to be a strong man. He comes from a small town, has a more conventional and traditional approach to things including fitness. Though over the years he has faced a few strains be it with his hamstring or the lower back but never has he walked out of the field or let that affect the team or his game as a batsman, wicket-keeper and captain.
Yesterday during the final T20I of the series against Zimbabwe, Dhoni walked in at a tough time but couldn’t contribute much as he played on a delivery from Donald Tiripano and was bowled. He turned around in his attempt to hit the ball and that is when the dislodged bails hit him through the helmet grille on the eye.
Dhoni walked back rubbing his eyes and looked in discomfort. He was out again leading his team in their defense of the lowest total they had done in T20Is. He didn’t have a really clear vision and was helped with eye drops during the course of the game as well and was constantly rubbing it which showed the irritation he felt.
Zimbabwe needed just 138 runs to win the match and the T20I series but the biggest obstacle on their way was the Indian skipper who marshals his troops the best under adverse conditions and he did exactly that yesterday.

Following the game, MSD shared a picture of the bloodshot eye on Instagram with a caption- “That’s what happens when u get hit by bails, lucky only had to keep wkts with blurred vision and pain”.
