MS Dhoni has been a stalwart of Indian cricket: Rohit Sharma

In a recent chat with popular anchor, Gaurav Kapur on his show ‘Breakfast with Champions’, stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the naughtiness that MS Dhoni possesses. Rohit praised Dhoni for maintaining a cool atmosphere among the team members with his pranks, in one of the earlier episodes the Indian captain Virat Kohli revealed how Dhoni finds things funny like an eight-year-old would.

Rohit Sharma commended the former skipper MS Dhoni’s actions and said, “He is a very calm person. His actions too reflect calmness. I am also a similar type of person. That is why I relate a lot to him. He has been a stalwart of Indian cricket. What he has done as captain, winning all three ICC tournaments. There is a lot of pressure in those tournaments. It is tough.” Rohit Sharma believes that Dhoni’s cheerful nature helps players around him to remain calm and composed. He thinks that Dhoni played a very significant role in shaping his international career and the turning point of his career was when Dhoni sent him to open the innings.

The prankster?

Rohit Sharma also talked about the fun that happens with new players in the team, he explained how Yuvraj Singh amused him during his early days. According to Rohit, all the players are fun loving but the best pranks are played by off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. “He has played pranks on players. He makes a lot of fun in the dressing room. Number one in pranks is Bhajju pa (Harbhajan Singh). Nobody can take his place. It is not only me if you ask any player in the team he will say the same (about Harbhajan),” he said.

The main focus in the show was on Rohit’s journey and how he carried himself as a player over the years. He revealed a funny childhood incident where he dropped his kit bag during a train journey in the Mumbai locals. There were talks about how the Indian team celebrates birthdays, Rohit feels that he is lucky that his birthday falls in the month of the Indian premier league, the cake facial ceremony in the Indian side is something that Rohit does not want to come across.

Anchor Gaurav Kapur also asked the Indian opener about how he forgets certain things easily, in one of the earlier episodes Virat Kohli said that Rohit is the laziest person in the side and can forget anything despite the place. Rohit told about how he has forgotten his passport, wedding ring, iPad, wallet, mobile phone and other things in the hotel. He recalled various funny incidents in the show.
