MS Dhoni makes his presence felt at naming of Rajiv Gandhi Stadium entrance after Dr. M.V. Sridhar

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their fourth game of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday (April 22), and now are leading the pack by sitting at the pole position of the points table. But before the nerve-wrenching game happened, Dhoni showed a very noble gesture by attending the formal naming of the main entrance of Rajiv Gandhi Stadium of Hyderabad after late Dr. M.V. Sridhar.

MS Dhoni was requested by the Apex Council of Hyderabad Cricket Association to cut the ribbon to formally mark the occasion, and the leader of yellow brigade obliged. No speeches were given on the occasion as the occasion underwent in a quiet and peaceful way.

The late Dr. Maturi Ventak Sridhar was an Indian first-class cricketer hailing from the city of Hyderabad. He made 6701 runs for Hyderabad, and his score of 366 against local rivals Andhra has been discussed a lot. He later became the secretary of MVSR Engineering College in Hyderabad. Sridhar had a heart-attack on 30th October 2017 and he was declared dead after reaching the hospital.

Sridhar has a wife and two children – one son and a daughter. His wife and mother were also present at the occasion. Speaking about one of the best administrators Hyderabad has ever seen, the head of Apex Council of Hyderabad Cricket Association, Dr. G. Vivekanand said “We thought the best tribute to Dr, Sridhar is with this kind of gesture. He was always a big source of support given his vast experience and knowledge of the game. We surely miss his expertise badly.”

Dhoni’s relation with M.V. Sridhar

Like many Indian cricketers, MS Dhoni had a very close bonding with Sridhar. He was the manager of the Indian team which toured Australia when the infamous ‘Monkeygate’ incident hit the headlines. He was known for his equanimity and brilliant communication dexterity.
