MS Dhoni to mentor Jharkhand in Buchi Babu invitation tournament
Indian limited overs skipper MS Dhoni who must be busy preparing for the recently announced 2-T20I series against West Indies will mentor his home side Jharkhand in the upcoming Kalpathi-AGS all-India Buchi Babu invitation tournament that starts on August 5 in Chennai. Dhoni will reportedly join the team five days later on August 10, on the eve of their final league game.
Since he also has national commitments to fulfill Dhoni will soon fly to the USA to lead the Indian team against West Indies in the T20I series. The Buchi Babu invitation tournament will see another Indian star taking field this season. Southpaw Suresh Raina will be captaining his domestic side Uttar Pradesh in the 14-day tournament.
The all-India tournament organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has been a domestic season opener and it will feature five outstation teams this season — Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Railways, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association — and three local sides — TNCA President’s XI, City XI and Districts XI. The prize money for the champion of the tournament is INR 1 lakh.
Dhoni who has in the last year or so taken up the role of a mentor first touring with a young Indian side to Zimbabwe to share his experience and expertise with the next gen of cricketers will look at this tournament as another opportunity to interact with young cricketers from his home state of Jharkhand and help them improve their individual game as well as the performance of the team.

His presence in the dressing room will surely be a huge high for the boys since Dhoni hasn’t really played domestic cricket once he made his international debut. He has been busy on national duty while the team plays such tournaments.
