Handing down the torch from one captain to another requires immense trust and faith. MS Dhoni implied the same when he handed over the responsibilities to Virat Kohli who was appointed skipper after Dhoni stepped down from the helm in January 2017. The aggressive right-hand batsman was instilled with the role to lead the Men in Blue and since then, the Indian fans have witnessed what Kohli is capable off

On being asked about Kohli as a captain, Dhoni feels he is the ideal person suited for the role. Dhoni shared his opinion on current India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper at the sidelines of a promotional event and spoke about the responsibilities a captain encounters during their stint as a leader.

He was quoted as saying, “I always felt a good captain is the one who understands the individuals. Because if you don’t know a player’s strength or weakness, you cannot give him the proper advice. I think it’s important how good you are as a team and how good you are as an individual, who helps others to perform.”

Despite being known as a finisher or the keeper with the fastest hands, MS Dhoni has been known for his captaincy which has made him the legend that he is.

In the ongoing IPL season, Dhoni’s captaincy once again serves as a testament to what champion material he is made up of. In all the 9 seasons he has led CSK, the franchise has succeeded to qualify for the playoffs every single time. This season as well, he has led Chennai Super Kings to the playoffs with ease as the Yellow camp sits comfortably at the second spot on the table.
