MS Dhoni shares tips with budding cricketers in Kashmir
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the kids to interact with the legend.
When not on cricketing duties former Indian captain MS Dhoni likes to wear the Indian army uniform and spend some time as the honorary Lieutenant Colonel. Since the conclusion of the New Zealand series he has had time in hand and with the Sri Lanka ODIs still a few weeks away, he decided to travel to Jammu and Kashmir.
Dhoni is in the Uri town of the Baramulla district in Kashmir. There he met and interacted with aspiring cricketers and gave them a talk. He made them aware of the importance of fitness and why a cricketer needs to put a lot of energy to maintain top-level fitness.
Chinar Corps based in Sri Nagar posted a tweet sharing information about the same with an image of the Lt Col and the children. They termed it a lifetime opportunity for the budding players to receive tips from someone like Dhoni.
“Lt Col (Hony) Mahendra Singh #Dhoni interacting with budding cricketers of #Uri town; a life time opportunity for them to receive tips from the #cricketing great,”
He told them how playing multiple sports as a kid helped him with his fitness. As a youngster Dhoni played badminton, hockey and football which have collectively contributed in giving him exceptional reflexes and the agility he has been able to maintain.
“I have played badminton, hockey as well as football. I have benefited from it because it increased my fitness. We used to play in a huge ground where seniors also used to play and till the time they finished, we used to run, which increased our fitness,” Dhoni shared with the kids.
Another tweet by the Chinar Corps read- “#Fitness first…followed by skill says Lt Col (Hony) #Dhoni to budding cricketers of #Uri. Also gives valuable tips to youngsters,”
