There’s no doubt that MS Dhoni is one of the fittest cricketers in the Indian team. The wicketkeeper-batsman may be 36 years old but his fitness reflects that of a youngster. He’s known to be a sprinter while running between wickets and his stumpings have been quicker than lightning.
Today, he just gave another example of his stupendous robustness on the field. In what was the last ball of the 31st over, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a flighted delivery to Sri Lankan skipper Thisara Perera. The ball hit him on to his pads and deflected to his gloves before hovering in the air. Without any second thoughts, Dhoni took off dived and ended up taking a stunning catch.
The Indian players surrounded him with cheers as they formed a huddle. In the process of the catch, Dhoni did hurt himself a little bit but it wasn’t much of a concern. It went on to display the level of fitness that has been earmarked in the team even for seniors. Dhoni for sure has lived upto the expectations which is an inspiration for the others.

India fared brilliantly in the game as they posted a mammoth total of 392/4. Rohit Sharma scored a fantastic double hundred which was his third in ODIs. Beautiful contributions in the form of half-centuries by Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer also helped the team’s cause
As for Sri Lanka, they lost the game by an astounding 141 runs. Angelo Mathews scored a century and remained not out. However, it was inconsequential as India managed to square the series. Dhoni also effected a brilliant stumping behind the wicket.
The former Indian captain has been in tremendous form. He scored a magnificent 68 runs in the last game as the rest of the team failed to put bat on ball. He ended up scoring more than half the runs as Team India was bundled for a paltry 112 runs.
He is eyeing another record in One-Day Internationals as he’s just 102 runs away from scoring 10000 runs. It remains to be seen if he will achieve this feat in the final game or in South Africa. The decider of this series will be played on Sunday at Vishakapatnam.
