MS Dhoni: The Untold Story crosses the 100 Crores mark at the Box Office
Neeraj Pandey’s ‘MS Dhoni – The Untold Story’ today entered the prestigious 100 crore club nine days after it released with a wonderful response at the box office. The film received a overwhelming reviews from critics and moviegoers alike. The inspiring movie was also declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Maharastra.
The biopic, which was released on 4500 screens, opened as second highest grossing movie of the year, registering 21.30 crores on Friday. The movie continued attracting the crowd in huge numbers on Saturday and collected 20.60 crores on day two of its business. On Sunday, it did a string business of 24.10 crores to take the total first weekend earning to 66 cores.
These strong figures at in the domestic market helped the movie cross the 100 crores gross in ‘worldwide’ collections. The movie collected overseas earnings of over Rs 20 crore in the first weekend which took the overall collections of the movie past the three-figure mark in gross worldwide collections in just three days.
The biopic on Indian skipper MS Dhoni which, has Sushant Singh Rajput playing the lead role, has collected Rs 103.4 Crore (Hindi, Tamil & Telugu collections) making it the fourth highest grosser of the year till now after ‘Sultan’, ‘Rustom’ and ‘Airlift’. The only other film this year to collect Rs 100 Crore in 9 days flat was Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’. This is Sushant Singh Rajput’s first solo 100 crore film, other than PK which had him in a supporting role.
