Dhoni was readily excited and looked forward to this opportunity as a way to reach out to the youth of the nation.
MS Dhoni may have retired from captaincy but he continues to be a relevant figure in the cricketing community. Now if reports are to be believed, he is expected to write a foreword to the book ‘Shoot. Die. Fly’ by Rachna Bisht Rawat. He was roped into this by Penguin Random House publications.
Targeted to the young readers, this book celebrates India’s armed forces by showing them respect and with 21 stories of valor by brave men and women. According to Midday, a source from the publisher told this diarist that Dhoni was their obvious choice since he’s a national icon. At the same time, he’s also a part of the Indian army in a limited capacity.
MS Dhoni’s association with the Indian Army
Territorial Army has given the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel to Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He got this rank in the parachute regiment of the Indian army. The former skipper also underwent training in 2015 where he underwent 5 para jumps after two weeks of training.
According to Midday, the source also mentioned that Dhoni was readily excited and looked forward to this opportunity as a way to reach out to the youngsters in the nation. This would help him convey the prominence of joining the armed forces and what it means to be serving the nation with that badge.
MS Dhoni is currently contracted with the BCCI hence he is expected to be a prime part of the Indian setup as the team looks forward to regaining the World Cup two years later in England. He has achieved a number of milestones in the last few weeks and is also nearing a couple more. The upcoming season for the Indian cricket team is going to be a challenging one and Dhoni would be leaving no stone unturned in his preparations.
