MS Dhoni has arguably been one the greatest cricketers India have ever produced. The veteran has given his team several laurels ever since he made his debut against Bangladesh. He is deemed to possess a calm head and his demeanour has pulled the Men in Blue out of the pits plenty of times. The veteran hasn’t played ever since the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup versus New Zealand.

He has been on a sabbatical ever since and it’s yet known when he’ll eventually return. However, he is still in contention for a berth in the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia. Talks of his retirement have also been doing the rounds for a fair bit of time and a number of experts have had their say on the matter as well. In the meantime, his ardent fans have remembered him of late.

India had a horrendous outing in their opening ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Prior to the three-match series, the Men in Blue were deemed to be a strong contender, but the Aussies made a mockery of them on Tuesday. After being put in to bat first, the hosts could only manage 255 in their 49.1 overs on a decent batting strip at the iconic venue.

In their run-chase, Australia didn’t have to drop much sweat. Aaron Finch and David Warner scored centuries and took their team to a 10-win victory with 74 balls to spare. Warner rode his luck a couple of times after the on-field umpire gave him out. But the southpaw used the DRS to good effect and stayed unbeaten. He was also the one to get to his century on January 14.

For India even the likes of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah couldn’t make a breakthrough. Kuldeep Yadav kept the openers in check, but couldn’t separate them. India have plenty of wok to do before the second game at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot. Amidst the action, the supporters reckoned that India missed Dhoni, who could have helped them get out of jail from the position.

Here is how Twitterati remembered Dhoni:
