MS Dhoni: The Untold Story starring Sushant Singh Rajput is 19 days old at the Box Office but continues to attract audience to the theaters. The collection of the movie has been growing at a steady pace in the third week. It has now achieved yet another feat by overhauling the overall domestic collection of Akshay Kumar’s recent release Rustom.
The biopic of India’s most successful cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a total collection of Rs 127.12 crore in the domestic market as per the figures updated until Sunday (16 October). At that point, it was just Rs 37 lakh behind Rustom’s numbers.
The overall earning of Rustom is Rs 127.49 crore net at the Indian Box Office. With no other major release this week either the trade analysts expect it to add a few more crores to the figures. It is also estimated that MS Dhoni: The Untold Story almost collected Rs 1 crore on Monday. Though, exact amount is yet to be known.
The biggest strength of the movie is its emotional appeal and the popularity of Indian limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni along with some superb performances by the lead actors Sushant, Disha Patani and Anupam Kher who play Dhoni’s love interest and father respectively.

It is also believed that the major contribution to the movie’s success is the word of mouth promotion from those who loved the film. At least four states in India had earlier also decided to exempt the movie from entertainment tax and was declared tax free.
As far as the compiled global collection is concerned, it has already crossed Rs 200 crore mark which gets MS Dhoni: The Untold Story the tag of being a blockbuster. It is also the most successful Bollywood biopic.
