It was a kind of repetition of history though off the ground. It was in 2016 when the then India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had handed over the maiden ODI cap to all-rounder Hardik Pandya. In 2019, MS Dhoni welcomed Pandya to the Star Sports team and the duo will be seen together in the channel’s advertisements. Recently, the two players were seen featuring in a funny TVC for the sports channel that left the fans both surprised and amused.
Star Sports recently announced the addition of Pandya to its team and posted a video of the former India captain welcoming him on board. Dhoni is often seen promoting other sports on the channel, like for example Pro Kabbadi. Now, the ace all-rounder will also join him to promote other sports and their events.
The two cricketers, who are off national duty at the moment, have been seen hanging out together in recent times. Recently, Pandya was also seen at the birthday party of Sakshi Dhoni in Mumbai. The two are also associated with Gulf Oil besides Star Network.
Here is the video of Dhoni welcoming Pandya to the team:

Dhoni & Pandya to feature in Indian team after a while
While Dhoni plays only the limited-overs games these days, Pandya was out of action for a few months owing to a grave injury he sustained during Asia Cup in September. That game against Pakistan was the last time the two featured in an Indian XI. Pandya made a comeback to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy only recently and was added to the Test side for the last two games in Australia.
Dhoni was dropped from India’s T20I side for the home series against the Windies and the away series versus Australia. However, the two are set to appear for India again this month when they fly to Australia for the three-match ODI series against the Aussies. Dhoni and Pandya are also part of the ODI and T20I squads that will be in New Zealand after the Australia tour gets over. The former India captain was recalled into the T20I squad despite the presence of Rishabh Pant.
