MS Dhoni's bullet shot has KL Rahul down on all four
In the post-match press meet, Rahul also mentioned that Dhoni almost killed him with that shot.
In yesterday’s 93-run victory over Sri Lanka, Indian opener KL Rahul played a brilliant inning at the top order. Having missed the One-Day International series, Rahul was determined to prove a point. No wonder he did it in style yesterday with a 48-ball 61 as India went on to score a total of 180/3, thanks to some late exploits by MS Dhoni and Manish Pandey.
Earlier in the day, after being put into bat first, the hosts began well before skipper Rohit Sharma got out in the last delivery of the fifth over. However, KL Rahul maintained the pressure on the visitors with some splendid shots. He alongside Shreyas Iyer put on a 63-run partnership from just 46 balls.
Rahul registered his second T20 international fifty. The opener hit seven boundaries and a maximum. However, after the wicket of Iyer, he slowed down a little. He eventually ended up getting bowled by the Sri Lankan captain Thisara Perera. His innings of 61 (48) was crucial considering it wasn’t an easy wicket for a new player to bat on.
MS Dhoni who was promoted to No.4 made a vital contribution towards the end of the inning. On the very second ball in the inning that he faced from spinner Akila Dhananjaya was thumped down the ground for a boundary. Dhoni took a couple of steps down the ground and then slapped the ball. Rahul who was at the non-striker’s end needed fast reflexes to see that bullet coming and he jumped as soon as he could to let it go.
The ball went to the boundary and Rahul was down on all fours. Later in the post-match press meet, he also mentioned that Dhoni almost killed him with that shot.
Here’s the video of that bullet shot:
Team India managed to pull off a magnificent victory owing to some wonderful bowling by the wrist spinning duo. Yuzvendra Chahal struck with four wickets while Kuldeep Yadav also got a couple of wickets. India completely dominated over the Sri Lankans as they were bundled for a paltry 87 runs.
