Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been holidaying with family in Shimla over the last few weeks. Not known for active social media presence, the cricketer and his family’s moments have been brought into the public domain by those accompanying them on the trip.
Notably, with the Covid-19 situation improving in the country, many state governments have either uplifted or relaxed the various bans put in place earlier. Owing to the same, the former cricketer opted to have a break from an otherwise busy schedule as he went to the hill station. Sharing one of the moments from the trip, one of Dhoni’s friend, Anubhav Dewan, uploaded a post on Instagram, captioning it as “That’s what you call a candid pic….,”
Taking note of the same, Sakshi Dhoni commented, “Photo credits Plzz,” as a response that has garnered plenty of attention on the media platform. Recently in another one of the posts shared from their trip, MS Dhoni was seen raising afforestation awareness as he signed waste woods with a slogan “Plant Trees, Save Forests”.
The official Instagram handle of the ‘Meena Bagh’ villa, Dhoni’s stay during the tour, posted the picture of him with a caption, “We had some boring slogans but he’s put his signatures to them. MeenaBagh Ratnari. HP. June 2021. (For our tree-hugging activist friends: the wood here is wood thrown by wood mills as waste and is called ‘waste wood’. It’s usually used for bonfires in Himachal’s winter)”.
During his stay at Ratnari, Dhoni also interacted with environmentalist Aman Singh Thakur, who runs an NGO and gifted the batter and his better half a traditional cap worn in Himachal Pradesh.
Dhoni to return to cricketing action in September
MS Dhoni was last in action during the currently-suspended 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, where the Chennai Super Kings, under his leadership, were having a good run in the tournament.
The league had to be postponed by the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council due to a spate of Covid-19 cases emerging in the bio-secure environment prepared for the league, including CSK’s coaches L Balaji, Michael Hussey and members of the support staff contracting it.
After negotiating a host of issues including a minor rescheduling of the Caribbean Premier League, the curtailed edition is set to resume in the UAE to finish the 31 remaining games. At the time of season suspension, CSK stood only behind Delhi Capitals in the points tally.
