Unlike most of the big names in cricket, MS Dhoni is not very active on social media. The former India skipper rarely posts photos or messages on social media platforms. While other cricketers love to post on social media after games, MS Dhoni is not a big fan of it. However, it has not affected his popularity on social media at all.

The legendary-wicketkeeper batsman is still one of the most popular cricketers across the globe. He has a fan following of 30.1 million on Instagram and 8.1 million on Twitter. And nothing describes his popularity more than the fact that one of the tweets that he posted earlier this year is one of the most popular tweets of 2020.

As per Twitter India, Dhoni’s tweet where he thanked PM Narendra Modi for his letter was the most retweeted tweet in Indian sports in the year 2020. So far, the tweet has garnered more than 73, 500 retweets. PM Modi had written a letter to the cricket legend after he announced his retirement from international cricket in August.

“An Artist,Soldier and Sportsperson what they crave for is appreciation, that their hard work and sacrifice is getting noticed and appreciated by everyone. thanks PM @narendramodi for your appreciation and good wishes,” MS Dhoni had tweeted.

MS Dhoni still active:

While MS Dhoni has brought down curtains on his international career, he is still active in the game as he played in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). However, it was a season to forget for the veteran cricketer as he failed to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the playoffs for the first time in the history of the competition.

Dhoni has been leading CSK since the inaugural season of IPL in 2008. In IPL 2020, the three-time winners finished at the seventh spot. At one stage, it looked like they would finish the competition at the bottom. However, they avoided the last-place finish thanks to three consecutive wins at the end. Dhoni also faced criticism for his indifferent batting performance as he scored just 200 runs in 14 games at a modest strike-rate of 116.27. Dhoni will be looking to bounce back when he leads CSK next year.
