The young students of the NPR College in Dindigul were thrilled to have an interactive session with former Australian speedster Brett Lee. Lee and his love for India is largely known to all. The former cricketer, who has a Bollywood movie to his name in the lead role, loves coming back to India. He attended the interactive session with the students of the NPR College, the college which is one of the venues for the second edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
After the session, Brett Lee was scheduled to have a fast bowling session with the bowlers of Madurai Super Giant, Albert TUTI Patriots, Ruby Trichy Warriors and Dindigul Dragons. Lee started off his address with a hello message in Tamil, saying ‘Vanakam’. He then spoke at length about how he wanted to take the autograph of Sachin Tendulkar when he first played against him.
“I grew up watching the great Sachin Tendulkar and never did I imagine I would be bowling to him one day. ‘May I please have your autograph, Sir?’ I wanted to ask him,” Lee recalled the memory from the past as per the quotes in tnca.cricket.
He then narrated that he loves coming back to the state of Tamil Nadu. He recollected that he had come to the venue last year as well and had a commentary stint too. “I love the game of cricket and I commentated in this very college last year during the India Cements Ltd TNPL and it is a wonderful place to both play and commentate,” quoted Brett Lee.
Loudest cheer
Lee was cheered on by the crowds throughout the session. However, the name that fetched the loudest cheer was of the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Talking about Dhoni, Lee called the veteran cricketer a wonderful human being. “He is a humble person and a wonderful human being,” remarked Lee.
On his Tamil skills
Lastly, he spoke about trying to learn Tamil. He conceded that his Hindi skills has been improving but Tamil still remains to be far cry as of now. “I love Tamil Nadu; it has beautiful people and wonderful culture. I would definitely like to learn more Tamil. My Hindi is good thoda thoda but I have a long way to go when it comes to Tamil,” concluded Lee.
