After three matches, the five-match ODI series between India and Windies is level at 1-1. After the home team comprehensively won the opening match in Guwahati, Jason Holder and Co made a strong comeback and managed to tie the next encounter in Visakhapatnam. Furthermore, they went on to register their first victory of the tour in Pune by 43 runs.

Virat Kohli became the first Indian batsman to rack up three consecutive ODI centuries, but his knock went in vain as he didn’t get much support from the other batsmen. The fourth contest is scheduled to be played tomorrow at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai with Thiruvananthapuram being the venue for the fifth and final encounter on Thursday, November 1.

Luck didn’t favor India in Visakhapatnam

In the meantime, a pretty bizarre incident has come to the fore that took place prior to the second match. As per a report in The Times of India, Chairman of Selectors MSK Prasad conducted rituals on the pitch. Later a match referee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) mentioned that as long as the pitch doesn’t get harmed, there shouldn’t be an issue.

The official also went on to say that the curators do puja at the grounds before the start of a season. Later, G.J.J. Raju, a former Andhra Player, went on to slam Prasad for his antics and even termed him as an ‘illiterate’. Meanwhile, despite the rituals, India’s luck didn’t favour as Windies batsman Shai Hope hit Umesh Yadav for a boundary and denied India a victory.

The visiting team needed 14 runs off the last over and Hope saved the Caribbean team from their second defeat in the series. In the meantime, the supporters also found Prasad’s actions as hilarious and trolled him severely on the social media platform Twitter.
