When Kings XI Punjab bought Mujeeb Ur Rahman in 2018, they soon realized that it would be a bit tough to interact with the young spinner. The Afghanistan sensation made it clear that neither did he know English nor Hindi unlike his illustrious compatriots Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. Mujeeb, in fact, had an interpreter with him whenever he interacted with journalists.
The off-spinner only knows Pashto. And it looks like he has managed to make others in the Kings XI Punjab camp learn that language. Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the franchise, recently confirmed it. The veteran Bollywood actress took to Twitter to post a video where she could be seen meeting her friend and interacting with her in Pashto.
Not only that, Zinta also thanked Mujeeb for making her learn the language. She also said she is looking forward to learning ‘some more’ about the language, writing: “Showing off my Pashto skills with my gorgeous friend Zainab Thank you @Mujeeb_R88
for teaching me Pashto Next IPL I will learn some more #weekendvibes #Pashto #la #havingfun #ting”

Mujeeb, meanwhile, has been one of Kings XI Punjab’s best performers in the last two seasons. While the franchise’s struggles in the league has continued, the young spinner has been one of the positives for them. In the last two seasons, Mujeeb has picked up 17 wickets and will be looking to replicate that performance in the upcoming season too.
Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, are seeking a fresh start in the league. One of the only three teams who have never won the league, the Kings XI have already roped in former India captain and coach Anil Kumble as their head coach. Kumble has also been put in charge of all cricket-related affairs of the team. Kings XI Punjab have not qualified for the playoffs since making it to the final in 2014.
