Mumbai Indians will play the next season of the lucrative T20 league as the defending champions of the IPL. However, the actual reason for the ousting of Rhodes is not yet known but he did an extremely job while he was there with the team.
Mumbai Indians franchise has always been active in chopping and changing with their support staff while they have stayed put as far as their core players are concerned. The support staff has been always world-class of the team which has so far seen the likes of Ricky Ponting, John Wright, Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Bond apart from Rhodes. Mahela Jayawardena was appointed as the coach of the team who won the trophy in his debut stint at the position.
The news of the appointment of James Pamment was confirmed by the Associate Editor of ABP News G. S. Vivek on his Twitter handle.
Who is James Pamment?
James Pamment is an England-born cricketer who played cricket in New Zealand. Albeit he never represented any country playing only first-class cricket for Auckland. He played 14 FC games at domestic level and scored only 351 runs at a mediocre average of 15.95. His List A career is much better as he has amassed 933 runs in 30 matches with a solitary century to go with six half-centuries.Pamment though has earned his name in the coaching stint and has experience of working with Northern Districts, the domestic team of the Kiwis.
The 49-year-old was the coach of the team which qualified for the main round of now-defunct Champions League T20 in 2014. His contract was also extended by two years in 2014 after returning from India by the management of Northern Districts. He would be looking forward to throw himself in the glamorous Indian Premier League which will also help to make his name as the fielding coach. He would have to fill the big shoes of Jonty Rhodes and also create the bonding with the players which is most important.
