Mumbai Indians' latest post on Rohit Sharma confuses Indian cricket fans
Rohit Sharma, as of now, is not the part of any of India's squad for Australia tour.
Rohit Sharma was trending on Monday evening on social media. The reason was his absence from India’s squads for Australia tour. The selection panel led by Sunil Joshi picked the team across all three formats and the fans were shocked not to see Rohit in the squad. He missed the last couple of matches for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the hamstring injury.
BCCI also tweeted soon after the squads were announced that its medical team is closely monitoring Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma’s fitness. As for Rohit, he got injured during the game against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) which went down the double Super Over and even skipped the post-match presentation. Since then, he hasn’t taken the field against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Even as the fans are recovering from the shock of Rohit Sharma missing out on Australia tour, Mumbai Indians’ latest Twitter post has confused them. The franchise, on its official Twitter account, posted a picture of their skipper batting in the nets which must have raised many eyebrows now.
Here’s the post:
Is there any chance for Rohit Sharma to play in IPL 2020?
Though nothing is official yet, Rohit Sharma seems unlikely to play anymore part in the IPL 2020. With BCCI’s medical team looking into his injury, they might not allow him to take any kind of risk given that it will hamper his chances to feature in Australia.
It comes as a huge blow for MI as well who have been playing exceptional cricket this season and are at the top of the points table with seven wins. Kieron Pollard is currently leading the side while Ishan Kishan has opened the innings in place of Rohit Sharma. It will be interesting to see if their regular skipper is ruled out of IPL as well or if a whole new story will revolve with Rohit getting fit in the next few days and also travelling to Australia.
