Mumbai Indians team owners take IPL Trophy to Siddhivinayak Temple
A dramatic final over from Mitchell Johnson saw Mumbai Indians win the match by just one run.
The Mumbai Indians entered the record books after registering their third title win in the history of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai beat their Maharashtra neighbors Rising Pune Supergiant in the finals of the 2017 edition of the tournament. It was a special display of death bowling that saw the MI camp pip the RPS camp on the night of the finals.
It comes as no surprise that the players, the captain Rohit Sharma, and the owners of the franchise were mighty pleased with the efforts of the lads on the field. The players were seen posing with the IPL trophy and the pictures of the players started to afloat the social media in no time. Certainly, the IPL trophy had a lot of rounds to do in the Mumbai Indians camp.
Interestingly, the team owners decided to take the trophy to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. The temple is one of the most revered temples in India. The owners opted to seek the blessings of the almighty after the team had notched up a brilliant win this season. Aakash Ambani was seen at the temple along with the prestigious trophy in his hands.
Winning by a run
Earlier in the game, it was the Mumbai Indians camp that had opted to bat first after having won the toss. They started off poorly with their openers back in the hut cheaply. Wickets fell in clusters as MI succumbed to 79/7 at one stage. A fighting 47 from Krunal Pandya saw them post 129 on the board. Later, in the run chase, RPS seemed to be cruising to the target.
However, a sudden collapse in the end and a dramatic final over from Mitchell Johnson saw Mumbai Indians win the match by just one run. A fifty from the opposition skipper went in vain and the MI fans erupted in joy to lift the silverware.
