Mumbai Indians unveil the new jersey for IPL 2020
The franchise had released a teaser on Saturday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to host the much-awaited 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) from September 19. The tournament was delayed and has now been moved out of the country due to the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in India. With the final scheduled on November 10, the matches will be played across three venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
With the league just a few days away, all the franchises have started their preparations for this year’s edition in the full swing. The defending champions Mumbai Indians unveiled their new jersey officially for the upcoming IPL season. The team had created a buzz regarding the design of the new kit by uploading a teaser on Saturday while on Sunday morning, they finally revealed the design.
It all started with the MI skipper Rohit Sharma appreciating the underwater skills of Hydroman via his official Twitter handle on Saturday. The batsman then tagged the twitter handle of Mumbai Indians making them aware about a new idea. “Just saw what @hydroman_333 can do underwater and it’s amazing. @mipaltan, I got an idea!” Rohit tweeted.
Taking note of this tweet, the Hydroman exclaimed that he couldn’t wait to dive deep in the blue while the twitter handle of MI also jumped in the conversation and hinted the fans towards the surprise by posting a small teaser.
New Jersey of Mumbai Indians
Putting an end to the suspense, the four-time champion franchise finally unveiled the new look of the team for the 2020 edition of the IPL. The official handle of MI posted a video which shows Hydroman Dancing under water while wearing Mumbai Indians Jersey. In the background, the theme song of the franchise is being played. Mumbai Indians tweeted, “BLUE. GOLD. AALA RE!!! The wait is over. Paltan, here’s our official jersey for #Dream11IPL!”
The jersey dons a light blue tint at the front with gold stripes on the shoulder and sides. A darker shade of blue takes over the sides and the trousers to complete the MI Blue and Gold of 2020. The name of the official sponsor Samsung is printed on the front in white while the name of Color channel is printed on the back.
