Another enthralling season of the most loved tournament, the VIVO IPL 14 is a few moments away. IPL, in itself, is a festive season for all the cricket fans as it brings in a lot of enthusiasm, energy, and a much-required adrenaline rush. This season is especially important because it is now back in India and will be played across the selected venues.

The season opener will see a clash between the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, and Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. A team that is set to claim the third consecutive title and a team that is eager to end the title drought will go up against each other on April 09th at 7.30 PM IST at the M. A Chidambaram stadium, Chennai.

In Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, MI has some of the strongest bowling attacks in the world. Bumrah, who had missed the limited-overs series against England, will look to perform well in the IPL. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan were both in an explosive form when they made their International T20 debuts against England recently. Hardik and Krunal Pandya are in great shape as well. There is no debate about the leadership or the batting skills or the skipper Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, RCB has a strong batting lineup with Maxwell, Kohli, AB De Villiers. The youngster Devdutt Padikkal, who has recovered from the COVID-19 will also be joining the rest of the squad in the season opener. RCB has also added the promising New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson to their line-up, who will surely enhance the bowling attack along with Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj. Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar will handle the spin bowling duties.

Ahead of the exciting clash, let’s have a look at both the squads.

Mumbai Indians squad:

Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Chris Lynn, Saurabh Tiwary, Anmolpreet Singh Bowlers: Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav, Anukul Roy, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohsin Khan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Aditya Tare.

Royal Challengers Bangalore squad:

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Devdutt Padikkal, Harshal Patel, Daniel Sams, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Adam Zampa, Shahbaz Ahmed, Kane Richardson, Pavan Deshpande, Glenn Maxwell, Sachin Baby, Rajat Patidar, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Kyle Jamieson, Dan Christian, Suyesh Prabhudessai, K.S. Bharat, Finn Allen

While the Mumbai Indians are the clear favorites leading into the match due to their superior balance and depth, a team with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers onboard cannot be taken lightly.

The Hitman or King Kohli? Who do you think will win?
