Mumbai T20 League: Kochi Tuskers owner buys a franchise

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) launched its own exciting and entertaining Mumbai T20 League. The tournament is scheduled to take place next month, from March 11 to March 21 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Former Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala‘s owner Mukesh Patel has procured a team in the upcoming city-based Twenty20 league. In September 2011, the BCCI banned Kochi Tuskers from the IPL for breaching its terms of the agreement.
Patel buys Mumbai South team
Patel who is the owner of Parinee Developers in a corporation along with Star Connect Entertainment and Smash Footwear have together been allocated the Mumbai South team. Earlier Patel owned the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in a group along with Anchor Industries and Rendezvous Group. The owners even raised objections against the IPL ban in the court law, after which the BCCI was forced to pay a certain amount of compensation to the franchise.
A total of six teams to be part of the Mumbai T20 League
In the upcoming Mumbai-based Twenty20 tournament a total of six teams will be competing for hard intense battles to stake their fortress in the maiden edition of the league. Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central, and Mumbai South are the six franchises facing each other in the various stages of the competition. The whole idea behind this league is to provide chances and channelize the local Mumbai talents to prove their ability and strengths on the given stage.

In a recent event, Sachin revealed that the upcoming league is surely the beginning of a beautiful tomorrow for all the local cricketers of the State to depict their talent and capabilities. He also feels highly honoured to be regarded in association with this Twenty20 league.
“Being associated with the T20 Mumbai League and motivating these young players is an honour for me. The Mumbai brand of cricket is iconic and has stood the test of time through decades. This being home, Mumbai has a very special place in my heart. Training, supporting and preparing emerging cricketers through platforms such as the T20 Mumbai League will help Mumbai and also India stay on the top in cricket. This league is definitely the beginning of a beautiful tomorrow!” said the Master Blaster during the celebratory meet as quoted by Asian Age.
